Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Can I treat my own animal homeopathically?
Because animals can't talk (at least not in the conventional sense), you might wonder how your animal can be treated homeopathically. With animals you must rely upon accurate and exhaustive observation of signs and symptoms, including (if required) x-rays, blood tests and other such tests.
Whilst pet owners may be able to treat their own animals with homeopathic medicines for a wide range of conditions, it is important to recognise what is serious or dangerous in the way of a condition and what may benefit from experienced veterinary help (and what absolutely demands it). The same instincts that parents use when caring for their children should also be applied when caring for animals.
There are three types of condition that owners should consider consultation with an experienced veterinarian: Bacterial infections (e.g acute septicaemia), injury (e.g. wounds, fractures and strains) and surgery (which should be left to experienced veterinary surgeons).
It is not unusual now to find that experienced veterinarians are studying homeopathy to treat their patients on both a conventional and homeopathic basis. Our range of homeopathic veterinary books cover both owner treatment and texts for experienced veterinary professionals.
